Pistons
Bonzi Wells never had a chance to play in Detroit. The Pistons
were stacked at the position but yet for years they have been
looking for a scorer in the mode of Stackhouse or Wells to
help the offense from being stagnant just like they have
never filled the big man need---unless you put Rasheed Wallace
into that category---which would still be a very good move
if they could slide him next to some big physical presence
player. Why else do some posters say bring back Wells, Stack,
Magette because they recognize the Pistons still struggle
for offense---which may finally be cured if Stuckey, Affalo,
and Sharpe develop. That and we wish the Pistons would have
at least drafted Chris Bosh or Carmelo Anthony. I know
the past never goes away--the Pistons drafted Millichik and
then traded him for Stuckey--so where is the Bosh type player,
well the Pistons are still waiting for him.

I agree with detroitchamp except for trading chauncey,he is the only one who stepped up against boston. He may have been outplayed these last playoffs but atleast he steps up to the challenge unlike prince and sheed. I belive the pistons should get maggette. the boy is a physical speciman and has a mean streak. I watched him handle my boy Duez henderson in a high school all- america game and Duez wasn't no punk. I would take anything for sheed because I truley believe a J-max will be a star if not for us then for someone else. The boy is pure energy and that is what this team needs, an agressor he took it to garnett every minute he was in the game. No PUNk! he may be undersized but he makes up for it in Heart, Hops and energy I would not trade chauncey because we know what he can do. Trading him to let stuckey take over would be to premature. Stuckey may be a player but he still needs fine tuning. Who better to learn from than the prototypical point guard, chauncey. He may not go to the whole as much or take over as much but the man is old. He can't afford to lose a step, he is one of the biggest point guards in the league and he is like 30yrs old. Any 30 yr old looks bad when going against some 20 something. Reference MJ vs Ivo at the top of the key.

wanna keep sheed under control ? get stackhouse to backup prince.
starbury...most likely released soon...
So, at what point do you talk to him to see if he would be willing to come off the bench and resurect his career before he gets too old? Arnie would hook him up to make sure he is 100%. He was used to starting a lot of games and playing a lot of minutes. He would be great competition for Stuckey and would be a cheap way of buying experience. It may allow Hunter to retire... He would be a great 6th man for the Pistons, like Vinnie Johnson was back in the day.
Billups could be traded (or sign and traded) in a deal for Josh Smith. That would allow for:
Young growth - (Amir, Sharpe, Stuck, Afflalo, Smith)
Experience to be given a chance - (Starbury, Sheed, Dyess)
Keep the major core and experience together (Sheed, Prince, Hamilton)
Allow for major depth and at worst the pieces for a Sheed-type trade at the deadline for anyone who is failing miserably.
Remember: Curry likes the "hard hat" type of players. He will not allow for anyone to take over the team with a bad attitude.
Your thoughts?
What A Dumb Suggestion, Another Dumb Detroit Move
I agree that billups is overrated, and has been outplayed. during these past playoffs you could look in his face at times and see that he knew he was outplayed. monta ellis is trying to get out of golden state since everybody else is bolting. we need to put together this trade : billups, mcdyess, prince, and next years 1 and 2 round picks. for monta ellis, al harrington , matt barnes or andris biedrins (free agent )

Are you kidding me? What the hell can James Jones do to help the Pistons become better? He is a scrub! Was a scrub in Indiana, a scrub with the Suns and whoever he played for last year.
Please explain why we need another perimeter player. The Pistons need inside scoring, a low post threat. The Pistons need a star player to go to when they need a basket and scoring.
James Jones, pleaseeee!
What has Jarvis Hayes done? What about Maurice Evans? Carlos Delfino?
Detroit, get rid of Prince, Rasheed and Billups and go after Al Jefferson of Minnesota, go after Carmelo Anthony of Denver and future picks.
Prince gets outplayed annually by the Wades, James and Pierces and he is too passive on offense. Too many excuses as to why he gets outplayed but the fact remains, he is a weakness that needs to be shored up and strengthed.
Rasheed is the teams most talented player, yet, the most complexing. It was a mistake following 2004 to resign him because if he wasn't going to be the scorer you dreamed of, why sign him? He is too talented to be scoring 13 points a game. The Pistons offense today is still as bad as it was under Carlisle.
Billups, most overrated point guard in the league. Three straight years he was outplayed in the conference finals. Detroit needs to become a power team offensively and that means getting better inside with scoring options.
Don't waste the time going after James Jones. We would be better served signing Jom Jones. Maybe he can give our opponents some Kool Aid to drink before big games.
I would get Z-Bo
I like the NENE deal he got moves trade CB for him and JR Smith .
I would get Z-Bo
I think zack would be ok in a pistons jersey, but i have yet to hear anybody mention eddie curry ( him and the new coach will not get along ,not !) or al harrington, gerald wallace, Nene, c. villaneuva, barbosa, mike james, adonal foyle, jj reddick, and dont laugh guys but these players are all available, their teams are trying to unload them, we can afford them and they arent superstars, but they can help out. we need beef in the middle ( foyle ) we need hunger ( wallace, barbosa ) a player out to prove something (jj reddick ) toughness ( harrington, Nene )
Here You Go Joe
WHAT about chris k for tay because they going to lose cory m to a team from the east

Wasn't it Mr.Davidson who said that no player is worth a max contract. Plus this team isn't concerned with selling bummper stickers and jersey's and you can't sell this teams fan base on anything less than winning, It is a tradition of winning that brings them to the Palace. This is not the answers for long term change and what makes you think we could build around Melo and be successful if Denver could'nt do it. What you put together was some West coast brand of basketball with that lineup (where is your defense) Bosh is a soft defender and so is Melo if this team sellout it's East Coast Toughness no one in Detroit will be willing to watch that crap and the palace would be looking like the 90's
The Stones already have their future in hand with Stuckey, Amir, JMax, Sharpe, Samb, Affalo as future replacements of the core. Why should Joe give away an opportunity of winning it all next season. This team needs change but not major change.
And if Curry can't motivate these vets than same on Joe again for hiring another in-effective coach.
Here You Go Joe
What are you talking about any body would take kristic over amir and max too little and to small any day.
Pistons
Those late 1990s teams were better on paper than reality.
Dele disappeared, Vaught never recovered from back problems.
The Pistons gave up Bonzi Wells and Scott Pollard. Charles
O'Bannon never lived up to his potential, either. Guys like
Jud Buechler, were good role players but were asked to do
too much. Christian Laettner was a lot like Wallace is now.
Tantalizing and had good numbers but looked like would deliver
so much more. Then you have Otis Thorpe, Malik Sealy, Lindsey
Hunter before he was traded for Billy Owens. Stacey Augmon
had better years before he became a Piston. The Pistons
let Allan Houston leave. And of course they acquired Jerry
Stackhouse. I guess those were before the Greg Cadillac and
Oliver Miller Olden Polynice days but with the exception
of Thorpe it was a doughnut franchise and that was why
it looked like they finally had acquired some big guys,
including Grant Long but they never meshed and after
the sign and trade involving Hill the franchise went
in a completely different direction.

Ahh Wise...how little you really know and how soon you forget those glorious years beginning in 1994 with the #3 pick named Grant Hill. He was the Pistons dream choice and brought marketing fortune to off set the lackluster attendance for several years.
Mr. Davidson is not cheap and if only Rick Sund knew how to run a team like Joe D, then we may have been past the first round regularly in the mid- to late-90's.
This team would make it back to the playoffs and maybe even to the ECF, if there are no significant changes. However, it is time to make major changes that will be for the long-term.
It's possible that my suggestion is too much change and could result in a different culture that is less productive -- in the first year. However, these are long-term changes with a minimum first or second round appearance, let alone any ECF or Finals.
BTW, I have met Curry several times when he was a player and have witnessed his evening speaking engagements. My opinion is that he cannot communicate well enough to be effective with a vet group, but with a younger core with a willingness to learn. The jury is still out on that choice!

You're right I don't agree I'll give you talent as being a first priority but chemistry is close on talents azz along with common sense as the 2nd thing, in fact its a 3 way tie. The Stones don't have to even enter the game of 2010 FA shopping nor concern themselve with marketability because they sellout every night, plus short of landing Lebron it's not worth it. BTW since you worked in marketing you know their cheap azzes aren't looking to pay for the big name in 2010.
Now if you take Detroit a team that by all means keep it roster as is and find itself back in the ECF why would they make the deal? They already hold Sheed's expiring 14 million, JMax and hold options on Amir's and Rip final year. They are in great shape if they wanted to get into the bidding war in 2010. Detroit only need to add a couple of solid role player at worst the cost of one core player. While the Stone get younger with your suggested trade they don't get a title yet alone make it back to the ECF. BTW which area of marketing did you work sales or communication? either way you can't sell this BS when the fans are only interested in titles. You are asking Joe to start over ie rebuild and if thats the case he needs to do it from scratch with a bunch of rookies.
I agree that a trade will come out of Denver as well but it won't be for Melo or AI but Camby and JR for CB or out of Seattle Wilcox and a player TBA for CB.
