What is there to fear/Brown

Mr. Brown you are right when you say a person that would not vote for Obama because he is black is racist and ignorant, however, as racism is a two way street blacks that vote for Obama because he is black are just as guilty of being racist and ignorant. And I believe that when the voting is done there will be more of the blacks voting for Obama because he is black than there wil be wites voting against him because he is black.

As for the statement that "there is a need for dialogue about the relationship between blacks and whites I ask "Just how much 'dialogue'do you, and the others that call for it, think is needed.?" Being in my 8th decade of life I have heard the call for 'dislouge'at least a million times. And there was a time when such a call was justied but it is now over done. It is time to live life and for all to but away all the "dialouge" about race as all that is to be spoken about race relations has been spoken. These that would be just will continue to be just. These such as the woman you wrote of will continue to be racist. The more we talk about it the more people will defend their position no matter how wrong. Further dialouge will not help.

Scum Bag Hannity's Requirements

Is your argument that because McCain was born abroad by 2 American citizens, his father an active duty naval officer on official government business, he is not eligable to run for office? Maybe you should educate yourself a bit about what it means to be abroad and the status of military bases... wow...

Really!?

Asa Eslocker: arrested by DNC SS troopers.

If there were rules established that restricted access of the press to public property it was illegal and unconstitutional. As a citizen Asa had an obligation to violate the "rules" just as EVERY American has the obligation to challenge all unconstitutional laws/rules.

Actually, you are wrong. While the owner of the land adjacent to the sidewalk is responsible for safety and upkeep he does not own it. This area is called an "easment" and is the property of the municipality... thus public property.

See Rev?

You are going to have to throw off your "every white person is against me because I am black" mentality. People like me are against you because YOU are racist, not because WE are racist. Of course a Harvard grad and Senator had a good chance of getting the nomination no matter what his skin color. When Obama loses the election it will not be because he is black, it will be because he is a socialist.

What Is There To Fear?

"Slimchance",

Yes, I cited just one ignorant person, but there are others. We all know that people make comments one way or another without really saying what they "really" mean. Even the pollsters are on record as saying that though those that they have spoken to have said one they, they kknow that they mean something else. I do appreciate your feedback and insight; and trust me, I am not one of them.

Oh Happy day.

I too celebrate the fact that we can have a minority for a major party nominee, and I pray that someday we will have a qualified one.

Unfortunately, this is not that day.

We NEED to get past race and I think that, for the most part, we have, but the policies that Obama promotes will be nothing less than devastating to this country. Jimmy Carter ran nearly the exact same issues with the exact same "solutions". Those "solutions" are at the root of nearly all of the problems we have this day. From Islamic terrorism to dependence on foreign oil to low real wages, we STILL have not recovered from the disastrous consequences from the last time we tried Obama's "solutions".

What Is There To Fear?

You cite to one ignorant woman's statement. She would vote for Hillary because she's a woman and not for Obama because he's black. If what you seek is perfection, you are doomed to failure and all the "dialogue" in the world will not help. Stupid people will always be with us. I have not yet one single person who thinks as that woman does. She does not, in my experience or opinion, exist in droves. She represents the fringe, perhaps even the vocal fringe, of society. Leave her be; she will never change. But you, my friend, need to take care that you do not perpetuate a divisive view of society. The parade of inventions that you attribute to black the black race were not invented by the black race. They were invented by individuals, whose genetic make up has absolutely nothing to do with their individual success. They individually applied themselves, engaged in hard work and succeeded. When you attempt to co-opt their success by aligning it with a race of people rather than the individuals themselves, you disparage their achievement, reject MLK's dream of measurement by content of character and not color of skin and add to, rather than detract from, a division based on race. Obama will get votes and lose votes because he is black. Those are the ignorant fringe. They, like the poor, will always be with us. Those of us who know better, though, should not give even the slightest suggestion that we regard race or color as a meaningful factor in the accomplishment of any individual or group of individuals. But that's what you did, almost like a challenge to someone to start lauding the praise of white peoples' or Asian peoples' inventions. And then what, argue about whose list is longer or whose were more important? My suggestion - don't go there; it makes you one of them.

What Is There To Fear?

If the Democratic Party wants to spin the fact that his acceptance speech is on the 45th anniversary of M.L. King's, "I Have A Dream" speech, that's there rhetoric. That has nothing to do with the fact that far too many people using the excuse that they will not vote for him based on his skin color alone. And besides, the date for whomever would become the Democratic Party's nominee acceptance speech was already set prior ro the end of the primary season.

Please do not construe my comments as to say that people, particulary Blacks, should be voting for Barack Obama because he is black. I agree with you wholeheartedly, a vote cast for anyone should be based on the voter feeling that that person is the best for the job. To that end, my argument is about peoples refusal to vote for him based on the color od his skin. That in and of itself is where the problem lies. Also, I agree, the party should not be making that apart of his campaign, but again, that has nothing to do with the reluctance of people going to the ballot box to not vote for him because of his skin color.

Until this country is willing to have an open and honest dialogue about race, the problem that is racism will exist through the end of all mankind. Everyone, regardless of ethnicty, has made many contributions to this country and the world. Let's stop limiting ourselves to this black versus white crap and just try to look at the person and get along with one another. I appreciate your feedback and thanks for opening up some dialogue that I hope will result in a productive outcome.

Scum Bag Hannity's Requirements

The Republicans have made a mockery of it? Perhaps you remember that the Liberals in this country tried to overturn the second amendment?

WTF does this have to do with either party? McCain was born in Panama, and Obama was born in Hawaii. Big frickin deal. Its just another smoke screen by the Liberals to pull away from the facts.

I also see that Louisiana is mobilizing for the impending hurricane. Smart Governor, prepare for the worst, hope for the best. Is Blanco is in prison yet?

Normaly the sidewalk directly in front of the building is the property of the building. They are required to maintain it, and can get sued if someone slips and falls. They had every right to ask him to leave, and have him arrested.

Just When You Thought It Was Safe to Watch the News . . .

Let's see...

The Nation elected a President who was the son of a Former President.

The Democrats almost nominated a person who is Married to a Former President.

If your name is Kennedy that automatically gives you "Magical" political powers.

This is nothing new. Americans are lazy and will just vote for whoever is the nicest looking or makes pretty speeches or even shares the last name with someone who was in politics.

So don't make this like it's just a Detroit problem. It's a National problem.

What Is There To Fear?

Then why are the Democrats making such a big deal that Obama is making his acceptance speak on the same day that Martin Luther King Jr. made his "I have a Dream" speech?

I read somewhere that they were going as far as to mimic the Detroit Civil Rights Mark that Martin Luther King Jr. had.

It's a two way street if you don't like the fact that people will not vote for Obama because of his color then the Democrats should not try to make it the foundation of his Campaign.

Martin Luther King Jr. Said "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

I believe he meant all blacks.

So this election if I vote for Obama it will not be because he is black and I should vote for him because I too am black.

Obama will get my vote if he is able to prove that he is the person that is the best for all Americans, Black,White,Asian, and Hispanic.

And on the other side of the coin. I will not just vote for McCain because he was Veteran and POW and that I should vote for him because I was in the Military as well.

If I vote for either candidate it will be because they were able to prove that they are the right person to fix this wounded country.

Scum Bag Hannity's Requirements

For all you Faux News and Hannity lovers ....News Flash...

from the Article 2 Section 1 of the Constitution (You remember that document, it's the one George Bush and the Republicans have made a mockery of)

"No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States"

There's your qualifications and requirements to be President of the United States. The framers intending politcal offices be held by the common man.....or even a man with 7 houses that he doesn't know about.
