Big Cee
Lee only rides Dice because he wants him in street clothes so Amir get all his minutes. I think he's a tad bit nervous about being wrong with Amir and settin up his "Crying Game" for the season. He knows no matter how much Sheed stinks it up Curry won't yank him and Joe won't trade him so Lee doesn't attack Sheed.

"One, Dyess is getting a bit old, but his knee surgery by far is a bigger factor. No lateral movement. On being physical, Dyess way too often employs fades, or simply shoots from 18 feet out, rather than go strong up with a shot at the basket. I know Dyess ain't like he once was, presurgery, a beast around the basket, but I don't think he has lost it all either. I believe its a poor choice on his part not to do more damage than he does at the basket. He does not draw as many fouls as he could, does not help open up perimeter shots for others as much as he could, and does not get as many rebounds as he could by shooting close in and being there for the rebound."
Lee I could insert Sheed's name in place of Dysess', remove the part about surgery, and your statement would still ring true; yet I have never, ever heard you criticize Sheed, not even constructively. Both of them could do more to draw fouls and open up the perimeter and rebound. Sheed is much more capable than Dyess to perform these things so he should man-up and give this team what it needs to succeed. He also is the highest paid on the team so SHEED EARN YOUR MONEY AND GET YOUR ARSE IN THE POST!

That being said, he has his good points. He is not too short to play center in most cases. He is very strong, and very experienced. Against bigger centers, like Howard for instance, Dyess can be pretty darn effective. As a guy who comes off the bench for instant offense, he can do the job, even though they are not the type of shots I wish he would take. He can certainly make shots.
My opinion on Dyess remains the same as it has been for years: Its ok that he is on the team for depth, but he should not be relied on to play heavy minutes. Too many minutes for Dyess means too many minutes where guys like JMAX and Sheed have to cover for his lack of mobility. Its tiring. When Dyess has someone he can guard out there, sure, let him guard that guy. But to play Dyess any preplanned, automatic minutes regardless of the competition, is just tiring to the team.
On the debate, I thought McCain stayed on message about his experience, but other than that, got no actual details across. His one "new" nugget he threw out there, while strongly claiming it as his idea, was actually voted for last weak in the bailout bill. Like he says, economics never was his strongpoint. I am voting for Obama, despite a lot of misgivings about his lack of experience; but there is one thing I do not like at all about his recent adds on healthcare. The adds leave out the part about providing affordable healthcare to everyone, regardless of preexisting conditions. Now, in the debate, Obama covered this. So why leave it out of the adds? I know it is unpopular to many, the idea of "universal healthcare." But hey, if that is your proposal, be proud of it, don't shy away from it in your adds. Its makes you sound like a wishy washy, well er, a politician. That I do not like.
It's about time
The 2nd worst gm in the history of professional sports (Millen being the 1rst) resigned today. Elgin Baylor finally stepped down from the Clippers after 20 something years of ineptitude.
Correction
The Red Wings are the top professional sports franchise in Detroit, not the Shock. No offense to them and their accomplishments but it is not even close. Keep this in perspective.
Address the center position
Massimo, you wrote: "Dice is short, old and not physical enough" Were you born stupid or did you study? Dyess broke Dwight Howard's freaking STERNUM! Without AD, we lose to Orlando period. When will the Dyess man get his props?
Shock Is a Professional Championship Team
Detroitchampion! What is all the fuss here? You should be overly excited that they won a championsip. Of course they are a professional championship team and we are all proud of them. It would have been nice if a half of million people lined the streets and attended the rally. People just don't hold that type of interest in the WNBA as they do the NBA.
The News is only reporting on what interest the readers and they recognize the accomplishments of the Shocks but you're not going to get the same hype as they gave to media day for the Stones. Hell even the losing Lions are going to draw more interest, but that just the way it is.
Stop letting this get to you and cheer your team as usual and be happy about them winning. But everyone is not a big fan of womens basketball and that's just how it going to be.
Shock Is a Professional Championship Team
The city of their jerseys say Detroit. They get paid, they're on television and they play for titles. They are the top team in the city this decade.
For all the stupid a.. men who claim they are not a pro sports, those are my sentiments on golf (Tiger Woods), auto racing (what's athletic about that?), and lacrosse.
The Detroit Shock represent Michigan better than any other team in the state. I watch every one of their games and I never miss one!
Who In The F... Hired These Stupid Writers?
When I read that a writer wrote that the Shock traded away its biggest star player. I'm sorry, but I did not know the Shock traded Deanna Nolan. PLEASEEEEE, stop that BS about Swin Cash being the team's biggest star. That has been hype since Day One. Deanna Nolan has been the team's best and most versatile player since Laimbeer arrived and they won their first title in 2003. Nolan has been their leading scorer, their all time leading scorer, the highest scoring games in team history, one of the few tripe doubles in league history and an all star annually. In fact, Nolan is the one who takes the toughest shots, the game winning shots, she is a former Finals MVP and she should have won one in 2003. She is an all league performer who gets passed over for every award imaginable to lesser players. She is 49 points from being the top scorer in WNBA playoff history and she has the second highest scoring average and she is the top free throw shooter in playoff history. So please tell me how Cash was the star of Detroit. CAsh was hype coming out of college. CAsh left because Laimbeer and I saw the same thing, Cash was not as good as she thought she was. Cash is gone and Nolan is still winning. Hire some writers who know the game and know the facts. The News is terrible for its Shock coverage.
Address the center position
Tha Show, your post doesn't make sense. First of all maybe you missed that one of the main reasons we lost to the Celtics in the playoffs is that we were HAMMERED on the boards.
Why? Dice is short, old and not physical enough, Sheed doesn't like contact and he refuses to do the dirty work at times, he was never the strongest guy out there (he always hated to lift weights) and lets add he's getting old. Yes, the guy can play spot minutes at center against some teams in the East, but the goal is to play the top teams and we can't have such a weak front line (Amir + Sheed) during the playoffs. We need youth up front but Amir Johnson is not the answer.
Second, assuming that Maxiell really gets winded in 25 minutes, tell me why he can't play the same ammount of minutes as a starter? I don't like his rebounding me too, but at least he hustles and he doesn't do silly fouls like Johnson. If we are desperate enough to start a 6'7 guy at center at least I want to see some elbows fly and a true banger.
Third, we have a player with size and incredible strenght named Kwame Brown, a true center, so if he can stay on the court and be productive, he's hands down the best option we have to complement Sheed.
Address the center position
Sho Momma, I agree there is little difference between the 4 and 5 on most teams, BUT the problem is that there IS a difference on most contenders. The difference between Kwame and Sheed is not measured in pounds or inches, but in years (duh). IMO Dyess (#1) and Sheed (2) are our best bigs, but they are close to retirement and Maxiell (4) and Johnson (5) either need to step up or be traded. Brown (3) is the most promising 5, but maybe only in a Ben Wallace sort of way (best-case scenario). Bottom line is that we need a trade or a free agent, or for Maxiell and Johnson to develop alongside Brown.
FSN
Just wonderful! tomorrow game will be televised and we'll get to see first hand what the hell is going on in Pistons Land. No more of these bogus play by play skits Lil Leroyeth of LeFlint giving out extra rebounds and skewing stats (6 rebounds my arse). I know go ahead and say it Lee. that you review a lot of radio replay in your spare time and I know I heard 6 boards.
Any who we get to see what Curry's offense looks like and I'll be paying very close attention to Mr.Johnson. I will put the first preseason game behind me and focus on tomorrow's game. I will be looking to see just how focus he is, I don't care how good he might look run up and down the court hustling. If it's not done with a purpose and does not fit into the scheme of things and flowing with the rest of the defense and offense I'll be back on his case.
I'll also be looking Frankie to see if the offense that Curry has in place is making CB turnover happy.
Is It Tomorrow Yet!

Monday night the Milwaukee Bucks got hammered by the Wolves, losing by 38 points. One bright spot was Charlie Villanueva's 14 points (14-8-0). Amir Johnson (2-4-0) looks to be matched up against CV on Wednesday night. CV is just the type of player you would think AJ can handle, but after the way Beasely posterized Amir, what constitutes success? Or progress?

TO Bobpiston fan: My two cents worth: You are exactly correct about female anatomy. It's the "cutting" sports that they get injured the most in. Laura Ramus is the Trainer/Physical Therapist for the Shock, and she has developed a strength training program for female athletes. You are also correct about knee injuries - look at any high school, college and WNBA team, and see just how many players are wearing knee braces, and then look at the men's team - rarely a knee brace for anyone on men's teams. Laura Ramus' web site is www.GirlsCanJump.com. I think anyone who coaches females in bball, volleyball and soccer really needs to incorporate some knee strenght training into their practice.
Relax !!! All Pistons Fans Rite Here !!!
I just don't understand why there are so many people start to treat pre-season game 1 like playoff games or something.... Relax, people, it's just way too early to judge whatever you saw/listened/read from Pistons-Heat game last Sunday ok because that is just the FIRST Game for both Mr. Curry and the Pistons, so it is understandable there are still some rooms to improve. I still believe we all need to give Johnson at least a whole month to create chemstry between himself and his teammates because this is first time for Amir to have such a great opportunity to show himself in front of all doubters. Pistons fans, we all need to be patient because time will tell how good the Pistons will be when the real season start. Instead of worry about that, I rather Hope all Pistons will be healthy when the regular season start at the end of October. We all know what happened at this time last year. So, Let's Go, Healthy Pistons !!!!!!!
